i am graduating with a bs in pharmaceutical marketing and management?

Q) i am looking for a job as a pharmaceutical sales representative, is it a really complicated job? and what skills do you have as a sales rep? do you love your job?

A) Puppetmaster, I believe I answered your other question regarding what possible jobs to apply for once you graduate from your college/university. First of all, congratulations in advance for your graduation! Most major pharmaceutical companies have thousands of applicants for their sales rep openings, so be prepared for competition. I'd like to share with you the most basic requirements they look for in a candidate: 1. 4-year bachelors degree with excellent grades 2. At least 2 years of successful business-to-business sales experience. 3. A good driving record 4. A good credit background 5. Personality You probably possess most of the items listed above, but I highly recommend that you first get experience in sales (with companies like ADP, Xerox, Coca-Cola, Enterprise). Remember, pharmaceutical sales is a sales job so they'd like to see that you've done something similar in the past and was good at it. This translates to potential as a successful pharma sales rep. Good luck!

Is there a Pharmaceutical managerial job in uae ? i have 7 year multinational sales and marketing experience.?

Q) Can you list good headhunters

A) Employment- http://jobs-bank.in/

I am graduating with BS in Pharmaceutical Marketing and Management degree this winter, What kind of jobs can?

Q) I apply for and how much money do you think I can make?

A) What was the reason you chose to major in this field? Obviously, there was a compelling reason or influence to drive you to it. Perhaps you wanted a job in the pharmaceutical industry? If so, then that narrows down the industries where to look for employment. Next is to ask yourself what you want to do within that industry. It looks to me that you are interested in marketing. Then again, that narrows down the sector within the industry. While in college, what did you like best about your field of study? What interested you the most? What would you like to continue doing for the rest of your life? Good luck!

Im a recent college grad with a marketing degree, and I was wondering how the job market was in this field?

Q) I would like to get into pharmaceutical aplliance sales i.e. titanium knee and hip replacements, and prosthetics...I want to know if anyone knows if it is difficult to get your foot in the door so to speak?

A) if you want to be in marketing, you need to learn to be more aggressive. start making calls and knocking on doors. for a job in marketing, show them you can market. don't rely on us bozo's to help you out.

I am looking for a job in marketing/sales, any ideas.?

Q) I am going to graduate in May with a BA in General Studies. I am looking for a job in Marketing or Sales. I have been looking at Insurance, Pharmaceuticals, and Recruiting and Training. I have four years in the navy, an associate's degree and soon a bachelor's degree. I recently decided not to teach and would like any info you have on these careers and others. Any resources would be appreciated. I live in central Arkansas and would like to stay around this area. I am a people person. I am hardworking and I love a challenge. I have various skills: training, computers, and electronics to name a few. If you could throw some ideas at me I would appreciate it!

A) Semper Pfizer! Pharma Sales...they love prior military (I was with them for a year after I got out, then decided it wasn't for me...). They hire a lot of college grads....

How do I find a job when I'm changing industries? I was in sales, but want to do market analysis. Help!?

Q) I recently resigned from the pharmaceutical sales job I had to persue another career path. I am having a hard time switching industries. I am interested in Marketing Analysis jobs, but am open to other ideas as well; as long as they are outside of sales. Any ideas on how to find jobs when switching industries?

A) Sorry, but I find it very hard to believe that you resigned from a pharmaceutical sales job without another job lined up. These jobs are very hard to get and are sought after by many. One does not just give it up and resign for no extreme reason. If you were successful as a pharma sales rep, and left the company on your own volition, not fired by management, it will be difficult at first to overcome the hurdle of employers wanting to know why you left without another job lined up. I suggest you put together a stellar resume, practice interviewing, hold your head up and pursue whatever it is that you want. It will only be a matter of time until you find your next home. Good luck!

How do I break into marketing with a non-traditional resume?

Q) I am a very creative person who loves science but has grown tired of typical bench work. I will be completing my PhD this spring and I'd like to break into marketing and/or advertising, with a long-term goal of working for a pharmaceutical company in their marketing department. I have an excellent science background. I have some hand-on experience in marketing, advertising, and PR for groups I volunteer with (college alumni group and sorority), but I have no formal training in marketing and my experience is rather spread out over the years. Any advice on how to break into a marketing/advertising job? I know I'll have to start at the ground and work my way up and I'm very willing to do it--how do I convince potential employers to take a chance? Thank you for all answers!

A) Your profile is interesting. Even if you don't have experience, you can convince the inteviewer, and make him listen to what he's looking for. I have got more than 10 face to face interview for marketing positions, in FMCG, IT and also pharmaceutical. Below are some advices : - Show them that you are interested in the position cause you want to build a long term career with them. Do not say that you want to join the company caus it's really very important with high turnover. - Try to find all arguments to show your interest for pharmaceutical companies : You want to help poeple, I that's your way doing that, working for a pharmaceutical company that makes poeple feel better. - Employers wants someone who is pragmatic, result oriented, creative, and also have to find solutions for difficult situation. Try something like " I am not the kind of person that try to say anything to answer a question, if I don't have the answer I will say I don't know now, But make sure that I'll get it" In term of marketing, make Focus on the 6P's, try to speak about them and apply them to a pharmaceutical product - Proposition : what is the promise of the product - Place : is it distributed in the right place, is there any channel else where we can distribute it. - Price: is it positioned at the same price - Packaging : do you have an attractive packaging, how is it perceived by the consumers versus competition - Promotion : Do we need promotion, when? where.? What can we offer (for the trade or consumers) - Product : do we have the right product attributes (physical and chemical composition), is the form of the product appreciated by consumers (pills ot anything else) Try also to show that you have to analyse the situation of the product, that you have to identify the gaps versus objectives, and set up plans to get to these objectives (Marketing plans : Above the line, Below the line, promotion, activation, ...) Hope that will help. Try to read some basic knowledge about marketing.

Any tips for getting a job in pharmaceutical/Medical Device sales, and which companies should I apply to?

Q) I am a recent college graduate with a Business Administration Degree with an emphasis in Marketing. I am looking to get a pharmaceutical or medical device sales job in the Lexington, KY/Cincinnati, OH or surrounding areas. I was hoping to get some tips from someone in the business, and hopefully make a contact or two. I have a good resume and cover letter-or as good as you can have fresh out of college-but would like someone to point me in the right direction. Also, I wouldn't mind suggestions for companies to apply to. Some that I have applies to already are Pfizer, Sanofi Aventis, Stryker.

I have attached the major fortune 500 drug companies in the U.S. If you call the corporate headquarters, sometimes they will give you the address of the regional sales manager in your area that you can forward your resume to. The bigger the company, the more corporate training involved, the bigger the chance that they will hire new grads. Some companies use Recruiting Firms, the major names can be found in your local yellow pages. Most of the time pharm co's will simply put an ad in your Sunday paper for a open call for interviews. The recruiting firm is often easiest because they will just put a few good candidates up for a position. You set an appointment to meet with them & bring a resume. They will then put you in front of any possible medical/pharmaceutical managers that they feel are a good fit for the perspective employer. The newspaper open call will have you send your resume to a P.O. Box & then someone will call you for a phone interview if you meet their requirements. If that goes well, then they will schedule a face-to-face interview. Most Pharmaceutical Co's are looking for a good GPA, good organizational skills, any activites that demonstrate team work skills. They are looking for a self-starter who is polished & can speak intelligently about their drugs, studies, etc. Most Pharm Co's have a 2-3 month training at their HQ. You do get a company car, so you must have a clean driving record. If you get a district /regional manager's name or interview follow-up is key. Always write a thank you letter & make a personal call too after any phone or personal interview. Know something about each company, as in major drugs, research news, homework is key in making yourself stand out . Watch & read medical news, if there is a new drug in the pipeline that usually means that the company will be launching it soon. This means new jobs openings in most markets. Yet another way to get in front of a hiring exec is to use your college placement program. Almost all the Fortune 500 companies do campus recruiting. You can usually coordinate several interviews in a 2-3 day time frame with several companies while they are on campus. Hopefully this will give you a good start. Get as many resumes out and be persistent. If all else fails,go to a teaching hospital in your area, hang out there on Mondays around noon. You will see at least 10 reps bringing in lunch for the interns. You can always ask for a card or a contact, lots of people used to ask me for info. Almost all wear a company name tag & are easy to spot. Your local pharmacies are also great to get contact names. The head pharmacist at CVS or Walgreens often not only has all of the PSR business cards & contact info but, they usually also have the district mgr's info. Make sure you go during the week around when they are less busy & have some time to talk. Some drug co's look for a heavy science background but, most don't. Eli Lilly is an example of a company who mainly pulls from science, pharmacy, or medical backgrounds. The others are fine with a business degree. Get to know types of docs too. As a PSR the majority of your duties will have to do with organizing your day, setting meetings with Dr's & detailing them on the latest drug or study info, having educational luncheons, delivering samples, setting up seminars, special events, calling on departments of hospitals, & calling on Pharmacists in your zip coded sales territory area. You need to be computer savy as your daily calls are tracked & presentation info. is contained on your company provided laptop. All of this is very structured and meticulously taught in training but, it always helps to know a bit about what your job would entail when interviewing. Good luck! ______________ Just thought of another field that is big for medical sales...homecare sales. Here is a link with all the locations in Ohio & Kentucky. You can give them a call or drop in and get regional or local contact info: http://www.apria.com/branch_locator1/1,3577,496-Ohio,00.html http://www.coramhealthcare.com/ http://www.baxter.com/about_baxter/careers/index.html (pharm, equipment, home infusion)

A) I'd strongly advise using the following job websites: Monster.com Medzilla.com (Pharma/Med Sales Specific site) CareerBuilder.com Hotjobs.com (Yahoo job site) You can also consider starting out as a Contract Pharma Sales Rep with Inventiv, Innovex, or PDI....Many reps got their start this way. I'm seeking a new position myself, and noticed a LOT of Entry Level Pharma Sales opportunities on Monster.com....I'm a 10 year veteran in the Industry, so I'm looking at Experienced Level positions. Good Luck to you! :)
